Lakes at Thuya Lakes Lodge

Thuya Lakes Lodge is located just 65 miles (105 km) NW of Kamloops, on Hwy 24 – BC’s famous Fishing Highway! You can expect to find some of the best wild Kamloops rainbow trout fly fishing in British Columbia! Thuya Lake Lodge is the only resort amid over 30 small wilderness lakes. These lakes are perfect for fly fishing and float tubing. They are joined by streams and abound with naturally reproducing wild Kamloops rainbow trout.

As the only resort in the area, you will certainly be assured of privacy at Thuya Lakes Lodge. You’ll also enjoy the choice of fly fishing over 30 small, well managed mountain lakes. And, you’ll enjoy good angling from June until September. The lakes range in elevation from 3800 to 5400 feet. Most lakes are under a mile long with an average depth of 45 feet. All lakes self-spawn with BC’s wild Kamloops rainbow trout.

The geography of the area is smaller mountainous with heavily forested wilderness areas surrounding.

“I can think of no place more beautiful on a summer evening, with rainbow trout jumping like raindrops on the waters surface.
A fish that will battle you with every ounce of strength he has. These are the fish of Thuya Lakes.”

We love seeing families out fishing together. It’s great to see young anglers learning how to enjoy one of our favorite pastimes. We’ll make sure we point you in the right direction so your young anglers can be successful without all the pressure and boredom!

More challenging trophy stillwaters produce 3 to 4 pounders, with the odd “lunker” up to 8 pounds for the patient and expert fly fisherman.

We have not allowed the use of gas motors or use of tackle such as “gang trolls” for many years. We’ve been promoting fly fishing long before it became popular. There is ample feed, and the hatches are spectacular!

Thuya Lakes Lodge is the perfect place for family reunions, angling clubs, stags, corporate retreats, friend getaways, fly fishing groups, mountain biking groups, hiking clubs or extended family vacations. Whatever your group, we can accommodate you. Imagine the possibilities. Contact us for special group rates.

We supply boats or canoes on 18 lakes. The waters not serviced by lodge boats are usually fished with float tubes. We ensure that there are only 2 – 4 persons on a lake at one time. None of our waters have any resorts or private dwellings on them.

Important Note: Except for the two lodge lakes, all others are not directly accessible by vehicle – only by hiking or ATV.

When you visit Thuya Lake Lodge, you will stay in one of our eight comfortable lake shore log cabins. Each cabin is situated far enough apart to ensure privacy. All are individually decorated with the kind of little touches that will make your cabin “your home away from home”. All cabins are equipped with gas cooking stoves, electric fridges, wood stoves for heating, running cold water, basic pots, pans and dishes. Our one bedroom cabins sleep 1 – 3 persons. Our two bedroom cabins sleep 2 – 7 persons. And, our largest – a two bedroom with a loft, with full bathroom facilities, can sleep up to 8 persons comfortably, and offers the best view in the resort!
